Positioned above the shoreline at Palm Beach, Waiheke Island, this extensive beachfront renovation transformed an existing home into a relaxed coastal retreat designed to embrace its exceptional surroundings. Through a complete structural rebuild and thoughtful reconfiguration, the home now balances contemporary coastal living with natural materials, light-filled interiors and a seamless connection to the landscape.
Rebuilding for Coastal Living
The project involved a complete structural rebuild, creating an opportunity to completely rethink the home's layout and functionality. New bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and bedrooms were carefully integrated into a redesigned floor plan that maximises natural light, improves circulation and strengthens the connection between the interior living spaces and the surrounding coastal environment.
Every design decision was made to enhance the experience of beachfront living while delivering a home built to withstand the demands of New Zealand's coastal conditions.
Natural Materials & Architectural Craftsmanship
A carefully selected material palette reinforces the home's relaxed coastal character. Natural cedar cladding and grooved plywood interior linings introduce warmth, texture and durability, complementing the surrounding landscape while creating a timeless architectural aesthetic.
Expansive glazing and generous openings blur the distinction between inside and out, allowing the living spaces to flow effortlessly onto surrounding decks and making the stunning coastal outlook an integral part of everyday living.
Outdoor Living Reimagined
Complementing the main residence, a separate outdoor living pavilion was constructed and connected by a central deck to create a series of inviting entertaining spaces. Complete with a covered pergola, outdoor fireplace, spa and generous seating areas, the pavilion extends the home's living environment beyond its walls, providing a private retreat designed for year-round enjoyment.

The completed renovation transforms the property into a sophisticated coastal home that celebrates its beachfront setting while delivering the comfort and functionality of modern living.
